Earlier today, MIG Realty, a division of Motorists Insurance Group, held a groundbreaking ceremony for The Residences at Topiary Park, a five-story apartment building with a brownstone townhouse design. The building, which is currently the visitor parking lot of Motorists Insurance Group, is on Oak Street behind the Motorists Building and faces the Topiary Park.
“Today as we celebrate Motorists’ development of The Residences at Topiary Park, we are contributing to the community in which we live and work – our own backyard,” Motorists Chief Executive Officer Dave Kaufman said.
This new building will include a rooftop area with an integrated gathering room, workout facility, onsite property management, dog wash, bike storage and onsite package delivery.
“This development is the first of a potential five-building neighborhood,” Motorists President and Chief Operating Officer TJ Obrokta said. “We are excited about this first step to help elevate this area of the city.”
The groundbreaking ceremony included Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, who applauded the efforts of Motorists as a partner in the community, as well as Columbus City Council Pro Tempore Michael Stinziano, who commended Motorists for “getting it right” in the downtown area.
“It is an exciting time,” Stinziano said. “We are seeing unbelievable growth and unbelievable commitment.”
Motorists Executive Chair Greg Burton closed the ceremony by thanking all the partners on the project, including Robert Weiler and Company, Moody Nolan, Elford Construction and Edge Group, as well as former mayor, Michael Coleman, with Ice Miller, LLP.
The apartment building is expected to be complete in fall 2019.
